Silver Crowns

From 2005-2007, I volunteered with a group of nursing home residents who often felt isolated from the outside world. Many people saw their frail bodies as shells belonging to someone else, or perhaps didn't see them at all.  People often fear what these residents seem to represent- the end of living. While building friendships with these residents, this work sought to reintroduce them to their community by highlighting their character, poise and beauty, and giving them the attention, praise, respect and dignity they deserved.
