Statement: Resting in Peace

Exhibited with the Quilts in Love Thy Neighbor, these drawings portray people with a broad range of identities: They are black, white and brown, male and female, old and young, big and small. There’s no visible distinction between their belief systems, there’s no distinction by class, there’s no hierarchy. They were all created on the same scale with the same materials. And they are all at peace. At a time when we see the world through our own perspectives, based on our social identity groups and how we are categorized, this work highlights the similarities we all share while embracing each of our physical distinctions.
